THE CORTILE is an interior–led design and cultural house devoted to shaping spaces where life can flourish.
Rooted in the classical courtyard—the cortile /kor•TEE•leh/—as a model of proportion, harmony, and connection to both others and the natural world, the studio approaches interiors as composed environments: ordered, material-led, and attentive to the richness of everyday life. A commitment to material integrity and a non-toxic sensibility underpins the work throughout.
The studio is guided by a simple conviction: that the spaces we inhabit are profoundly formative. They shape how we think, how we feel, how we gather, and how we engage with the world. Materials, light, and composition are therefore handled with care—each chosen not only for its form or function, but for the quality of life it makes possible.
The aim is not simply to design interiors, but to shape the conditions for a more considered way of living: spaces where life can unfold with greater depth, beauty, and intention.
THE CORTILE was founded by Aleksandra Gadzala Tirziu, a designer, writer, and former geopolitical analyst whose work has long engaged with questions of beauty, culture, place, and the structures that shape human experience. Drawing on a lifelong engagement with design, philosophy, and wellbeing, she established THE CORTILE as a continuation of this inquiry—expressed through interior design.
Working across residential and hospitality projects—including private residences, cafés, restaurants, and boutique hotels—the studio collaborates with clients to create environments that are both refined and deeply livable, shaped with longevity, and where life can flourish.
